Long before she thanked us for stopping by as Veronica Corningstone, Christina Applegate became many an 80’s baby celebrity crush as Kelly Bundy.

In fact Applegate was such a popular sex symbol; they had to stop rolling tape whenever she walked into the scene during a taping of Married with Children due to the incessant hooting from the men in the crowd. This literally happened during the taping of every single episode.

Thanks to her role as Kelly Bundy, Applegate started getting leading roles on the big screen, starting with Streets; a movie no one would have ever heard of if it wasn’t for Applegate’s pseudo topless scene. I’m pretty sure that scene alone accounts for their entire $86k opening weekend.

Her next big break was in Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, a movie touted as “Home Alone Times Five”. While she never really made it to the very top of the female superstar list, she’s taken roots somewhere in the middle, all thanks to this:

Useless fact: Applegate won the role of Veronica Corningstone (Anchorman) over actress Laura Linney, who instead took the roll of Clara McMillen in Kinsey, earning her a second Academy Award nomination.
